Join Crustacean Compassion online on Crustacean Compassion Day, 10 June 7pm-8pm, for a special screening and watch party of Seantience, the incredible short film by Animal Ethics, featuring a live Q&A session with special guests too.
Crabs, lobsters, and other decapod crustaceans are legally recognised as sentient under UK law. This screening highlights this reality and asks the urgent next question: what does sentience demand of us?
Seantience is a powerful short film produced by Animal Ethics, an international organisation working to raise awareness of sentient beings who are often ignored or excluded from moral consideration. Through clear storytelling and carefully grounded evidence, the film brings the inner lives of aquatic animals into view and makes the ethical implications of their sentience impossible to dismiss.
Whether you work in animal welfare, policy, science, or are simply motivated by curiosity and compassion for our marine life, this screening party and Q&A offers an engaging and thought‑provoking way to mark Crustacean Compassion Day and be part of a growing movement that refuses to overlook the sentience of marine animals and people and organisations who are working tireless to give them a voice!

Date: Wednesday, 10 June
Time: 7pm-8pm
Location: Online – registration required
As a reminder, here’s what we got up to on the first Crustacean Compassion Day in June 2025…
With our theme of 'Celebrating the wonderful world of decapod crustaceans', supporters came together from all around the world, to learn more about these fascinating animals and the challenges they face.
Through two inspiring webinars, lots of campaign action, and creative activities like crustacean crochet and crafts, people of all ages helped raise awareness and show their support for crabs, lobsters and prawns.
It was a fantastic day of
learning, creativity and compassion in action.
