Laura Poulson

Campaign Manager

My role at Crustacean Compassion is to design, deliver and oversee all our campaign work to improve decapod crustacean welfare. I manage a small team across campaign, communications, corporate and public affairs and ensure that we work together to maximise our impact, influence and outcomes. I also work with the CEO to ensure we're delivering on our strategy and plan what’s next for Crustacean Compassion to help animals at scale around the world.

Favourite decapod and why, or favourite decapod fact:

It’s a hard choice to pick my favourite as they are all special, but I have a soft spot for shrimp as they are so often overlooked. They have some fascinating behaviours and come in many vibrant colours, not something that you might immediately think about them.

Studies have shown that when shrimp are injured, they groom their injured body part - behaviour like this is part of the evidence that showed us they, and other crustaceans, can indeed feel pain.
